Mom and Dad's Visit to Bloomington

This weekend my parents came to visit Bloomington! It was a long-awaited visit...I think it's been the longest I've ever gone without seeing them. We had a sort of forced relaxation on Saturday and Sunday...Saya hasn't been well and threw up a few times this week (including twice...on me)! We have a suspicion that she caught hand, foot, and mouth disease. (We are so over the day care petrie dish.)

It was a great visit overall. Saya wasn't too sick to hang out at the park or go on walks, although she was just sick enough to throw some major attitude around and refuse eating. You can see pictures of my parents' visit here on my dad's Picasa album.

And...we have news! We are in escrow to buy a house here. The last half of the pictures in my dad's album are at the new house. It's in a neighborhood called Blue Ridge just north of the IU campus. The neighborhood is full of midcentury gems. The house we bought isn't midcentury, but was constructed as a cool stone ranch house and has lots of open space, light, and trees. We are super excited! You can see a virtual tour of the house here.

A long awaited update: Easter!

By now it's obvious that Ashlyn has been neglecting her bloggerly duties for quite a while. So finally I decided that I had to step in. We're still alive!

I know I can't compete with Ash's forte of long-winded blog posts, so I'll just upload some pics of our Easter egg hunt and BBQ... enjoy!

Ashlyn's edit: This year Easter was absolutely gorgeous. It was one of the first beautiful warm spring days. We wanted to celebrate in style. Saya was spoiled by a beautiful Easter basket from my mom.

We invited some of our friends over for a "grillin' and chillin' Easter". We hid 130 sticker-stuffed eggs around the backyard and let the kids loose.

Kris spent the day grilling yakitori chicken, beef, veggies, and bacon-wrapped tomatoes while we feasted on potluck and drank beer.

Of course the day would not be complete without a hunt for the adults as well. We hid a ton of travel-sized liquor bottles throughout the backyard. Our friend Matt scored a bottle of Grey Goose.

A beautiful day to chillax!

Post-edit by Ashlyn: I went back in and added comments about the pictures. Some things need a bit more explanation!
