A Visit with Camilla
Two weekends ago we visited my dear friend Camilla. She was my roommate when I was 16 years old. So we have known each other a very long time! She flew in from the Big Apple to hang with her Bay Area family.
One of the many reasons Camilla is awesome is because when I told her I wanted our baby's decorations to have an owl theme, she totally remembered. And so, like, MONTHS later, she sent us this:

And this:

To go with this print, which of course I bought on Etsy:

It was so great to see Camilla's family. I saw her sisters Paloma and Celia (whom I have not seen in years) and her grandparents. Here is the fam:

And of course no evening with Camilla and family would be complete without some fun and games. When I play board games with the Lopez clan, I CANNOT STOP LAUGHING.
A few years ago, I joined the family for a rousing game of Scattergories. It was pure ridiculousness. When we got the letter "K" and the category "Terms of Endearment", Celia wrote down the endearing term "Killer" and then tried to convince us that it could actually be considered a term of endearment when accompanied by a sexy little wink. I didn't do much better, with "Kelly, I love you." Who is Kelly? Who knows! But her name starts with a K! When we got the letter "M" and the category "Hobbies", Celia's ex-husband wrote down a word related to self pleasure. We still erupt in giggles remembering this very legitimate hobby of his.
We played a few hilarious rounds of Taboo. Which were complicated by playing with Camilla's grandma, who was super confused by the rules. Here is how it went:
Grandma picks up card. Taboo word is "Butcher".
Grandma is not allowed to say "meat", "grocery", etc.
Grandma (to Camilla's cousin, Sierra): This is somewhere you go when you want something REALLY, REALLY, SPECIAL.
Sierra: Uhhhh....
Grandma flashes a megawatt smile and nods encouragingly.
Sierra: Um, can you be more specific?
Here, Paloma buzzes Camilla during Taboo:

During this visit, Kris attempted to demonstrate how to "walk it out". He thinks he can do it better than I can:

But this is how you really do it:
Then Grandma demonstrated how it's really done. According to her, it's called "The Camel". And it looks surprisingly like a moonwalk.
