Vacation Roundup

I never finished writing about the rest of our vacation in L.A. Here's what else we did:

Foodie adventures
Papa Guido's Pizza in Redondo Beach, owned by Chienyo's brother Jim! I thought the pizza here was great - they sell pizza by the slice, but make each order fresh, rather than just re-heating slices in a microwave. It's tasty and very reasonable.

L.A. Farmer's Market. We enjoyed the mind-blowingly good (and very reasonable) food at Pampas Grill, a Brazilian churrascaria stand with very, very tasty grilled meats and plantains. We topped it off with some meh fondue at Monsieur Marcel Pain Vin et Fromage.

The Apple Pan in Westwood, a landmark place with character that serves over-priced, meh burgers that do not compare to In-N-Out.

Pitfire Pizza in Westwood, a decent place that has some great dishes. Others are hit-and-miss.

Ice cream sandwiches with Michael and Yelena at Didi Reese in Westwood.

We also had an amazing Korean Barbeque meal at Soowon Galbi in K-Town, which uses charcoal rather than gas. We were lucky to be joined by Maryn and Brian, Kris's brother Alan, mom Julie, and grandma Popo.

Saya loved the banchan and kim chee!

Make no mistake: If you eat char-grilled KBBQ, you will smell like it. I received the following text from Maryn the next morning:

OMG my hair smelled up my car last night I had to wash it!
